Trucking articles
I would just like to request your help with possibly rating, or just proofreaing a few articles I have created about the truck driving industry as a whole. If you have any knowledge of the industry or can just give me some general advice on article layout, grammar, and whatnot, that would help me a lot. These are brand new articles that I have created, and besides a few minor edits from other members, I have worked on them almost exclusively. So a third party would be appreciated. If you can just check out Trucking industry in the United States, Hours of service, and Federal Bridge Gross Weight Formula I would be grateful for ANY advice you can give me. I'm trying to get these article promoted to GA status and then hopefully FA status. I would be happy to return the favor for you. I've only been a registered editor for a month now, but I'm slowly figuring out how this system works. - Thank you so much! Your input was exactly what I needed. I know what you mean about the WWI photo. Also, the way you centered the freight table kinda matches the photo and now they BOTH interrupt the flow (no offense!). But I have an idea about how to fix that. And yeah, that list of industry terms was bothering me, I just knew someone, at some point was going to say "hey, uh, that needs its own article." And I just recently learned that there is a special markup just for glossary entries, but I kinda like the nested tree form I have now. If you know of any creative ways to make glossaries (since you're good at lists) let me know. But anyways, I really appreciate the feedback! You deserve a Barnstar or something. - You should cite your sources in a References section at the bottom. I'm guessing that your main source is racing-reference.info. In that case, I've usually seen a reference on the first item on the list to that source. Another thing: there's consensus to not use flags (especially about not using state flags in a table like you are doing) at WP:FLAGS. I would avoid using them and save the time. Someone will probably remove them anyhow, so save time up front. You can respond here on your talk page, I added it to my watchlist. That table looks like a huge pain to do, so I gave you a barnstar.
- Shoot, you're right - I thought I was okay since this was a sports-themed table, but then I realized that only applies to national flags and not sub-national flags. I'll fix it. And actually, my main source right now is NASCAR Encyclopedia by Golenbock and Fielden (I listed it in the WP:Motorsports reference guide) - it covers through 2002, and I'll be updating/verifying the rest with racing-reference and another book once the bulk of the table is complete. If you'd like, I'll go ahead and put together a table for the current (as of 2008) tracks at the top of the page as well, listing the appropriate series stops. For racing-reference I would list the page that shows all of the tracks ever used in the main 3 divisions with the expectation that anyone could click on the track link to find out the track location, size, etc. for each track. I avoid using all flags at all costs because I predict that someone will soon/eventually get consensus to remove all of them. Fair use images are another thing to avoid, the bar keeps getting closer to using only free use images, period.

List of United States over-the-air television networks

I see you're fairly new round here. Hope you're enjoying Wikipedia and settling in well. I responded to you here, where you seem to be using an argument common among those new to AfD debates - that other articles exist which are worse. It's such a common argument that someone put together a page about it - WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS. In summary, making such an argument only argues for other pages to be deleted, but says nothing about the page under discussion. It could be that you have a point and the page should indeed be kept, but please do explain the grounds for it to be kept. I have an open mind. Cheers. --Dweller (talk) 10:34, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, that was probably a mistake - however, I did also mention that the article really needs sources of any kind, which I thought was a strong enough point. I'll strike that note from my vote. I have a feeling that consensus is that only winners of series are normally considered notable, with exceptions made for people who stand out from the crowd for exceptional notability (cf Nick Bateman and Jade Goody for their "nasty"-ness and stupidity respectively). Augusta International Speedway
Let me try to clear up some confusion. The Augusta International Speedway was the complex that included eight different tracks. These are described at the tribute site. The Augusta International Raceway was one of the tracks and it was the 3 mile purpose build NASCAR road course (circuit). It is still with us today and being developed into Diamond Lakes Regional Park. This track is where our non profit organization gets its name: Augusta International Raceway Preservation Society. Sorry for the late response to your question.

Help us with our problem. The article is September 11, 2001 attacks. Using a word to define the same word is bad. The original version is something like "The September 11, 2001 attacks was a series of...attacks."
The title of the article was the result of a long 2004 debate. The use of the title in the introductory sentence makes awkward prose and makes the article title sound like a TV episode article. See that article talk page and help!

Curious...
