North and Middle Andaman district is one of the 3 districts of the Indian Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands located in the Bay of Bengal. Mayabunder town is the district headquarters. The area covered by this district is 3251.85 km2.
HistoryThis district was created on August 18, 2006 by bifurcating the erstwhile Andaman district, which included all three tehsils of Mayabunder sub-division of this erstwhile district. DemographyThe population of this district (2001 census) is 1,05,613. The majority of the population of this district are Bengalis.
