The Nintendo GameCube Modem Adapter is a 56k dial-up modem for the Nintendo GameCube video game console. It was designed and produced by Conexant and made in the Philippines. The Modem Adapter fits into an empty port on the underside of the GameCube console and adds a standard RJ-11 port to the side of the console. Although GameCube consoles and accessories were available in many colors, the modem was only available in black. OnlineThe adapter's only function is to enable online play for the GameCube's four online titles: Homeland, Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II, Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II Plus, and Phantasy Star Online Episode III C.A.R.D. Revolution. In addition to a modem (for dial-up connections), Nintendo also produced a broadband adapter for high-speed connections.Currently no games in production are planned to make use of this accessory, although the ability to let the GameCube communicate with a computer and load code makes the modem and/or broadband adapters essential to homebrew and other GameCube-modding communities.[1] See alsoExternal links
