Mozilla Prism, previously known as WebRunner, is a product in development which integrates web applications with the desktop, allowing web applications to be launched from the desktop and configured independently of the default web browser.

Prism is based on a concept called Site-Specific Browsers (SSB). An SSB is designed to work exclusively with a single web application. It doesn’t have the menus, toolbars and other accoutrements of a traditional web browser.[1]

The software is based on XULRunner, so it is possible to get some Firefox extensions to work in it.[2]

The preview announcement of Prism was made in October 2007.[3] The software is currently in its beta stage.
