John Wesley Ryles (born December 2, 1950 in Bastrop, Louisiana[1]) is an American country musicsinger-songwriter. He made his national debut in 1968 with the release of his single "Kay", a Top Ten hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles (now Hot Country Songs) charts, and the title track to his debut album for Columbia Records. Although Ryles recorded several more studio albums and charted more than twenty additional singles over the next two decades, only one of his singles (1977's "Once in a Lifetime Thing") peaked any higher than his debut.[1] Since the release of his last single in 1988, Ryles has served primarily as a session guitarist, background vocalist, and demo singer.[1]
