Channel Home Centers based in Whippany, New Jersey[1], was a chain of home improvement stores in the northeastern United States. The company was owned by W.R. Grace until 1986 when Channel's executives bought the company through a leveraged buyout. The purchase included other home centers under W.R. Grace located in the southeastern US, among them "Handy City." The company stayed in business until the mid-1990s, when the company was absorbed by Rickel. Nearly all the Channel stores were converted into Rickels, with the ones that were in close vicinity to Rickel stores shuttering altogether. The rest of the stores closed in 1997 when Rickel went out of business.
