Armenian-German relations have always been stable and solid, with both countries continuing to work together and advance through the years with in cooperation. Both countries' leaders have discussed bilateral relations and noted that they have considerably improved over the last few years. [1]
Even though Armenians were not formally persecuted by the Nazi regime, Hitler stated "who now remembers the Armenians". This statement referred to the inaction of the world community during deportation and killings of the Armenians in the period around the First World War. Historians have suggested that the meaning of Hitler's statement was that if the Turks got away with committing Genocide against the Armenians, then Nazi Germany could get away with starting a genocide against the Jews. Modern Germany
Germany recognized the Armenian Genocide during the rule of the Socialist-Green coalition led by Chancellor Gerhard Schröder. Relations between Armenia and Germany have been positive.
