0304 is the fourth studio album by American pop singer Jewel, released in June 2003 by Atlantic Records. The album is considered Jewel's most mainstream-accessible album to date.

Inspired by the sudden success of scoring a number-one hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart with "Serve the Ego"—the final single from her previous effort This Way—in early November 2002, Jewel made a radical departure from previous musical efforts and recorded 0304, a pop- and club-friendly record, void of anything "folk-like" she had previously done.

History

0304 ended up being Jewel's highest-debuting album in her career, debuting and peaking at number two on the Billboard 200, selling 144,000 copies in its first week.[1] Also, the album went gold by the RIAA for selling more than 756,000 copies in the United States.[2] It had strong sales for the first few weeks but, from there on, it slowed down considerably with time. The music video for the first single, "Intuition", featured a more "sexed-up" Jewel, showing cleavage and wearing a white T-shirt sprayed with water, even though it was supposedly done in a "tongue-in-cheek" fashion.

Many fans were disappointed that promotion for the record ended so soon after the success of lead single "Intuition". With the poor performance of follow-up single "Stand", Atlantic Records rushed a third track, "2 Become 1", to radio stations and refused to allow Jewel to film a video. The record sales fizzled away soon after "Intuition" left the charts. The fans waiting that Jewel releases at least more 3 singles: Fragile Heart, Leave The Lights On and Doin' Fine (which became part of the soundtrack of the 2005 movie Ice Princess).
